Girls on the Run 5K & Fun Run Weather Policy
Spectators and participants safety is first and foremost with the race officials and Girls on the Run of the Triangle. We will closely monitor the weatehr forecast for race weekend, but due to rapidly changing weather conditions, we may not be able to make any decision regarding the race until Saturday morning.
Below are the steps we will follow if the threat of rain occurs prior to 9:00 a.m. race start:
1) If there is a threat and/or we are having thunderstorms at 8:45 a.m. on race morning, the first race start will be delayed until 9:10 a.m. to allow the threat to pass.
2) Should the threat remain at 9:00 a.m., an announcement will be made that will delay the first race start until 9:20 a.m.
3) Should the threat remain at 9:10 a.m., an announcement will be made that will delay the first race start until 9:30 a.m.
4) If the weather remains unsafe at 9:15 a.m., the Girls on the Run 5K & Fun Run and Festival will be cancelled. No refunds will be given.
Should a storm come about while the runners are out on the race course, they should all seek coverage at the closest house on the race course. Once the storm has passed, runners should return directly to the race start/finish line. All participants should return to the registration and festival area to be reunited with their families and friends.
